Open Merchant Hub → Reports → Financial Summary for an overview of revenue, taxes, payments, and expenses. It opens with Payment Methods, Tax Breakdown, and Staff Sales charts, then detailed sections — Sales Summary, Tax Breakdown, Payments, Refunds, Card Processing, Staff Sales, Tips, and Discounts — with an On this page menu and date and outlet filters.

## Key takeaways

- Financial Summary (Reports → Financial Summary) is an overview of revenue, taxes, payments, and expenses for a date range.
- It opens with three charts — Payment Methods, Tax Breakdown, and Staff Sales — then detailed sections, with an On this page menu to jump around.
- The Sales Summary section breaks down everything from Gross Sales to Total Sales After Taxes (fees, discounts, refunds, tax collected and refunded, and cash rounding).
- Other sections: Tax Breakdown, Payments Summary, Refunds Summary, Card Processing Summary, Staff Sales, Tips Breakdown, and Discounts.
- Filter by date range and outlet, optionally compare periods, and export with Download (CSV, XLSX, or PDF).

## What the Financial Summary shows

The Financial Summary is your **overview of revenue, taxes, payments, and expenses** for a chosen period. It opens with three summary charts, followed by detailed sections, with an **On this page** menu to jump between them.

## Summary charts (top of the page)

- **Payment Methods** — breakdown by payment type (for example, cash vs. card).
- **Tax Breakdown** — tax collected by class (by tax rate, for example NL Sales Tax).
- **Staff Sales** — sales by team member.

## Open and filter the report

1. In the Merchant Hub, go to **Reports** and open **Financial Summary**.
2. **Set the date range** for the period you want.
3. **Filter by outlet** — it defaults to **All outlets**.
4. **Comparison (optional)** — use the comparison control (No comparison, previous period, or same period last year).

Use the **On this page** menu on the right to jump straight to a section.

## The detailed sections

- **Sales Summary** — the full breakdown, line by line: **Gross Sales** (product price × quantity of all products sold), **Taxable fees**, **Discounts**, **Gross Taxable Sales** (sum of order subtotals, not including refunded orders), **Non-taxable fees**, **Refunds (excl. tax)**, **Net Sales** (order subtotals minus refund subtotals), **Tax collected**, **Tax refunded**, **Cash rounding**, and **Total Sales After Taxes** (net sales + net taxes +/- cash rounding).
- **Tax Breakdown** — the net tax amount for each tax rate, with **Total taxes**.
- **Payments Summary** — net payments received per tender type, after refunds (for example cash, card (Terminal), card (FinalPay), card (TapToPay)), with **Total payments**.
- **Refunds Summary** — refunds total for each payment type, with **Total refunds**.
- **Card Processing Summary** — your **Final Pay payment total**, **Processing fees**, and **Net payout expected**.
- **Staff Sales** — orders and gross sales per team member, with a total.
- **Tips Breakdown** — tips per team member, with a total.
- **Discounts** — discounts for the period.

## Reading the numbers

The **Sales Summary** is the heart of the report: it walks from **Gross Sales** down to **Total Sales After Taxes**, showing how fees, discounts, refunds, and taxes adjust the total along the way. The charts at the top and the other sections then break the same period down by payment type, tax rate, staff, and card processing.

## Exporting the report

Use the **Download** button to export the Financial Summary as **CSV**, **Excel (XLSX)**, or **PDF**. For the full steps, see **How to export your reports**.
