About this flow

Tap Terminal brings standard physical card reader ergonomics to mobile phone checkouts. Built specifically for high-volume bartenders and quick service staff, it features a right-shifting minor unit keypad, dedicated colored hardware-style action keys, and seamless handoff to native contactless tap-to-pay and tipping.

What it can do

Hardware-style amount keypad
Enters digits from the right into minor currency units just like a traditional standalone payment terminal.
One-touch contactless charge
Triggers native tap-to-pay and tip flows instantly using a prominent corner charge button.
Cart staging verification
Clears and validates the cart amount and currency units before payment to prevent discrepancies.
Customer-facing approval screen
Displays a high-contrast dark confirmation screen with total paid and captured tip details.
Comprehensive failure handling
Clearly distinguishes declined cards, unstarted tenders, and network timeouts with tailored retry actions.

Changelog

  1. v0.3.0Live

Payment results now show exactly what Final answered: Approved, Payment cancelled, Declined, Payment error (with Final's own message), Not charged, or Sale not complete. The old "No answer — may have been paid" screen is gone. Payment error offers Cancel only, to avoid a second charge. Receipt failures show "Receipt error" with the reason. Not yet tested on a device.

  2. v0.2.0

Text and email receipts on the Approved screen. The guest taps Text receipt or Email receipt, enters a phone number or email, and the sale's receipt is sent through Final. The screen shows whether it was sent, not sent, possibly sent, or blocked by no connection. A receipt send never holds up New sale or the next payment. Not yet tested on a device.

  3. v0.1.0

First release. Bar card terminal for a phone: type the amount on a hardware-style keypad, press the green key, the guest taps to pay and tips on Final's native screen, then a Brioche Go–style Approved screen. One open-price "Sale" line per charge, no tax added. Unclear tender answers show "No answer" and are never retried automatically. Not yet tested on a device.
