Connect your own AI to Build (MCP)
How to connect your own AI tool — like Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT — to build Final flows over MCP. Start a prompt, choose Connect your own AI (MCP), copy the generated block into your tool, and watch it build your flow with a live preview.
Prefer to build with your own AI tool? Build lets you connect your own AI — like Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT — over MCP, so your tool builds a Final flow using its own model. Everything it builds still shows up in Build, where you can preview, refine, and deploy it. Here's how to connect.
Step 1: Start a prompt on the Build home
On the Build home — the "What will you build?" screen — start typing what you want to build. Your AI tool starts from this brief, so a sentence or two about the flow you want helps it begin well.
Step 2: Choose "Connect your own AI (MCP)"
Instead of Start, select Connect your own AI (MCP). Build creates your flow and generates the text you'll use to connect your tool.
Step 3: Copy the generated block
Build produces one self-contained block of text — setup instructions, the Final Flows MCP server address, a one-time key, and your build brief. Copy the whole block.
Keep the key private. The block includes an organization key that lets your tool build in your Final account. Don't paste the block anywhere public.
Step 4: Paste it into your AI tool
Open your external AI tool (for example Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT) and paste the block. Your tool uses it to wire up the connection to Final on its own — there's no separate setup — and starts building your flow. This can take a few minutes.
Step 5: Keep building by chatting in your tool
From here, use your AI tool the way you normally would: ask it to change the design, add screens, or wire up features. It makes those changes in the same flow Build created for you.
Step 6: Watch the live preview
A preview window opens with a live demo of your checkout flow as your tool builds it. The session also appears back in Build as a read-only chat — so you can watch progress, preview the flow, and deploy it from Build when it's ready.
Already have a flow open?
You can also connect a tool to a flow you've already started: in the Build workspace, open the chat rail and choose Connect your AI tool.
Step by step
- 1
Start a prompt on the Build home
On the Build home ("What will you build?"), start typing what you want to build. This becomes the brief your AI tool starts from, so a sentence or two helps.
- 2
Choose Connect your own AI (MCP)
Instead of Start, select "Connect your own AI (MCP)". Build creates your flow and generates a block of text to connect your tool.
- 3
Copy the generated block
Build produces one self-contained block — setup instructions, the Final Flows MCP server address, a one-time key, and your build brief. Copy the whole block. Keep the key private; it's tied to your organization.
- 4
Paste it into your AI tool
Open your external AI tool (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT) and paste the block. Your tool wires up the connection to Final itself and starts building your flow. This can take a few minutes.
- 5
Keep building by chatting in your tool
Use your AI tool to change the design and features. It makes the changes in the same flow Build created for you.
- 6
Watch the live preview
A preview window opens with a live demo of your checkout flow as your tool builds it. The session also shows up in Build as a read-only chat, where you can preview, refine, and deploy.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI tools can I connect?
Any agentic tool that supports MCP — for example Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or Codex. Build gives you a block of text that works with any of them.
Do I have to set up the connection manually?
No. The block you copy includes the Final Flows MCP server address and a one-time key, so your tool wires up the connection itself — there's no separate connect step.
Is the key in the block sensitive?
Yes. It's an organization key that lets your tool build in your account, so keep it private and don't share the block publicly.
Where do the changes show up?
In the flow Build created for you. The external tool's session also appears in Build as a read-only chat, and you can preview and deploy the flow from Build.
How long does it take?
After you paste the block, your tool connects and starts building — this can take a few minutes before the preview appears.
Can I connect a tool to a flow I already started?
Yes. In the Build workspace, open the chat rail and choose Connect your AI tool to connect an external tool to your current flow.
