How to create attributes
Create attributes in the Merchant Hub — the reusable options (like Size or Color) and their values that you use to build product variants.
What is an attribute?
An attribute is a reusable option that turns a single product into multiple variants — for example, a Size attribute with the values Small, Medium, and Large, or a Color attribute with Red and Blue. The attribute is the option type; its values are the choices. You create attributes once, then use them on products to generate variants.
How to create an attribute
In the Merchant Hub, go to Manage → Products → Attributes.
Choose Add Attribute.
Enter a Name (required, up to 50 characters) — for example Color, Size, or Material.
Under Option Values, type a value and press + or Enter to add it (for example, Red, then Blue). Add all the values you need; you can't add duplicate values.
Choose Create attribute. It's now available to use on your products.
Managing an attribute's values
Open an attribute and use Manage values to add, rename, reorder (drag to reorder), or delete its option values at any time.
Renaming or deleting an attribute
Use Rename Attribute to change its name.
To delete an attribute, open it and choose Delete attribute. An attribute that's in use by variants can't be deleted — you'll need to remove it from those products first.
Using attributes to make variants
Once you have attributes, you select them on a product to generate variants. You can also create a new attribute on the fly while setting up variants. See "How to set up variants for your products."
