This Merchant Hub glossary defines the key terms used across Final POS, including Company, Outlet, Station, Flow, Tax Group and Final Pay, so you can understand the platform's vocabulary at a glance.

Key terms used across the Merchant Hub and Final POS:
Attribute – A re-usable product option (Size, Color) that combines with others to create variants.
Company – A single business or store within Final. One organization can contain multiple companies.
End of Session – A report generated when a Station session is closed, summarizing sales, taxes, and tips for that session.
Final Pay – Final's integrated payment processing service.
Flow – A checkout experience built in Flow Studio. Stations run flows.
Merchant Hub – The merchant-facing admin tool: Manage, Run, and Pay together.
MOTO – Mail Order / Telephone Order. A card-not-present payment method where card details are keyed in by staff.
Native Station – A Station that runs on a dedicated device through the Final POS app.
Outlet – A physical or virtual location for a company. A company can have many.
Pincode – The numeric code a user enters at a Station to log in.
Smart Grid – The configurable grid of tappable tiles on a Station's home screen.
Sold in – The unit a product variant sells in, chosen in the Variants table on the product page (and in the + Add Product window). The default, By the piece, works as before; any other unit opens a quantity prompt at the till.
Station – A single point-of-sale instance. Native runs on a device; Virtual runs in a browser.
Stock source – Where a product variant's stock comes from: Its own stock, or From another variant of the same product, so several sizes draw from one pool. Only sibling variants in the same unit family that are not themselves borrowing can be chosen.
Tap to Pay on mobile – Accepting contactless card payments directly on a supported phone or tablet.
Tax Group – A group of one or more Tax Rates applied together. Assigned to products.
Tax Rate – A single percentage tax defined within a Tax Group.
Unit-based product – A product sold in a measure other than one piece: by weight, length, volume or a pack size you define. Staff key the quantity at the till and Final calculates the line total. See How to set up unit-based products and packs.
Unit family / base unit – A group of units that convert into each other (Weight, Length, Count, Volume and so on), sharing one base unit that stock is counted in. Units convert only inside their own family.
Units of measure – The Manage → Products → Units of measure page, where you define your own units and pack sizes once for the whole company, each with a Name, Abbrev, what One is worth and the Decimals allowed.
Virtual Station – A Station that runs in a web browser.
