Final POS glossary: key terms explained
Plain-language definitions of the key Final POS terms — Merchant Hub, Manage, Pay, Run, Build, Station, flow, Final Pay, command-frame, extension, credits, deploy, and more — so new users can navigate the product and the help center.
This Final POS glossary defines the terms you'll come across as you get started — in plain language. Final is a suite of products, so a few names refer to the apps, others to selling, building, or money. Here's what each one means.
The Final POS apps
Merchant Hub — Final's web back office, where you run your business. It's home to Manage, Pay, and Run, all under one login.
Manage — the part of the Merchant Hub for your product catalog, orders, customers, reports, team, and settings.
Pay (Final Pay) — Final's integrated payments, powered by Stripe: card, contactless, and Tap to Pay, plus payouts to your bank.
Run — turns a phone, tablet, or browser into your point of sale, where you actually ring up sales.
Build — Final's AI builder for creating checkout flows. See Getting Started with Build.
Selling: stations and sessions
Station — a point of sale you sell from. A Native Station runs on a device; a Virtual Station runs in a browser.
Session — an open shift on a Station. You open a session to start selling and close it to cash out and get a closing report.
Outlet — a business location. Your catalog, stock, and reporting can be organized by outlet.
Final Terminal — the native terminal app for taking in-person and keyed (MOTO) card payments.
Tap to Pay — accept contactless payments directly on a supported phone or tablet, with no extra card reader.
Building: flows and extensions
Flow — a checkout experience that runs on your stations. It's what you build in Build, or choose from the Flow Library.
Flow Library — a showcase of ready-made flows you can try live or make your own. See the Flow Library.
Deploy — publishing your flow so it goes live on your stations. Deploys are versioned, so you can roll back to an earlier version.
Extension — an add-on that adds features to your store.
command-frame — the built-in connection that lets your flow work with your real store data — catalog, cart, payments, and printing — and keep working even when you're offline.
Money: payments and credits
Payout — money Final sends to your bank from your sales. Standard payouts are free; instant payouts have a small add-on.
Credits — the usage currency for Build. You spend credits as you build, and on AI image and video generation.
