How to ring up a sale
Build an order at the till — add catalog items to the cart, adjust the lines, and go to checkout to take payment.
Before you begin
Before you ring up a sale, you need an open session — see "How to open a session." Your selling screen's exact layout and buttons are defined by your flow, so what you see can vary, but the steps below work the same way.
Step 1 — Add items to the cart
On the selling screen, the Catalog tab shows your products as a grid of tiles. To add items:
Tap a product tile to add it to the cart. If the product has options or variants (like size or color), choose the variant when prompted.
Search the catalog by name to find a product quickly.
Scan a barcode to add the matching product, if you have a barcode scanner connected.
For something that isn't in your catalog, switch to the Custom sale tab to add a custom-priced item. (See "How to make a Custom Sale.")
Each item you add appears in the cart.
Step 2 — Review and edit the cart
Tap a line in the cart to edit it. You can:
Change the quantity (or use the +/– controls).
Apply a discount to the line.
Add a note or adjust other line details.
Remove the item.
The cart keeps a running total — including tax — as you add and edit items.
Step 3 — Go to checkout
When the order is complete, tap your flow's checkout / pay button (the exact label is set by your flow) to move to payment. From there you choose how the customer pays — see "How to take a payment."
Tip: If you need to step away mid-order, you can park the order and come back to it later.
