Connectivity — Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and cellular.
Power — rechargeable battery; can run while charging.
Specifications: Connectivity and supported payment types above reflect how the reader is used with Final Pay. For full hardware specifications — exact dimensions, battery life, and supported regions — refer to the manufacturer's product page for this model.
Best for
Ideal for markets, fairs, and pop-up shops where venue Wi-Fi can't be trusted.
Use Ethernet at a fixed counter for the most stable connection, with cellular as automatic backup.
Connecting your reader to a station
The Stripe Reader S710 is a cloud terminal — it connects to a station from Station Settings on the station device, using a pairing code.
Power on your reader and connect it to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular.
On the station, open Station Home, then go to Station Settings and open Payment Terminals.
Select Add cloud terminal. On first setup, a pairing code is generated automatically.
Enter the code in the Pairing Code field, then select Add terminal. The terminal is now registered to that station.
Need to generate the pairing code manually? If a code isn't generated automatically, you can create one from the reader's own settings:
Navigate to the Settings page.
Ensure the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
Enter the admin PIN.
Generate a pairing code for device registration.
Then enter that code in the Pairing Code field and select Add terminal.
Keep the reader online: A Stripe Reader S710 connects over the network, so it must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular for the pairing code to register.
Taking a payment
Once connected, your reader follows the checkout flow on its station:
Ring up the sale on the station as usual, then at checkout tap your flow's card (Final Pay) payment button.
The amount is sent to the Stripe Reader S710. The customer taps, inserts, or swipes their card, or uses a digital wallet / contactless.
If tips are enabled, the customer is prompted to choose a tip before paying. (Set this up in Payment Setup → Tips.)
If signatures are enabled, the customer signs on the reader before the payment completes, and the signature is stored with the order.
When approved, the payment is recorded in the Payments area and the receipt can be printed or sent.
Customize the checkout experience: Tips and cardholder signatures are configured once in Payment Setup and apply across your supported cloud terminals. See "Configuring Tips & Cardholder Signatures."
Care & everyday tips
Charge the reader fully before each shift so it doesn't run out mid-sale.
Keep it connected to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular so payments go through without delay.
Keep the screen and card slot clean, and use a protective case if the reader travels with you.
Install updates when prompted so the reader stays secure and current.
Troubleshooting
Pairing code is rejected or won't register — confirm the reader is connected to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular, then generate a fresh pairing code and enter it again (codes can expire if left unused).
Reader connects but won't take a payment — confirm the reader is the one connected to the station running checkout, and that the station has an internet connection.
Card payments are declining — try another card to rule out a card issue; check your connection; review the payment in the Payments area for the decline reason.
Network keeps dropping — if Wi-Fi is spotty, switch to a wired Ethernet connection or let the reader fall back to cellular so you stay online.
Battery won't hold a charge — charge fully before a shift and use the official cable/dock. If it degrades over time, contact support about a replacement.
