Terminal Guide - WisePad 3

How the WisePad 3 Bluetooth terminal works with Final Pay — a portable reader you pair from Station Settings on a Native Station — plus connecting, taking payments, and troubleshooting.

About the WisePad 3

The WisePad 3 is one of the payment terminals compatible with Final Pay — a compact, portable Bluetooth reader with a built-in keypad. It pairs to a Native Station and is a good fit for taking payments away from a fixed counter, or anywhere a handheld terminal is convenient.

At a glance

  • Form factor — compact, handheld Bluetooth terminal with a physical keypad.

  • How it connects — pairs over Bluetooth to a Native Station device.

  • Payment types — tap to pay (contactless), chip and PIN, plus digital wallets.

  • Connectivity — Bluetooth.

  • Availability — Native Stations only (not Virtual Stations).

  • Power — rechargeable battery; charge between shifts.

Specifications: Connectivity and supported payment types above reflect how the terminal is used with Final Pay. For full hardware specifications — exact dimensions, battery life, and supported regions — refer to the manufacturer's product page for this model.

Best for

  • Handheld, on-the-go payments paired to a Native Station.

  • Situations where you want a dedicated PIN-capable terminal rather than an on-screen reader.

Before you begin

  • A Native Station — the Final POS app on a dedicated device. Bluetooth terminal payments are not available on Virtual Stations.

  • The WisePad 3 charged and powered on, within Bluetooth range of the Station device.

Connecting your terminal to a station

  1. Power on the WisePad 3.

  2. On the Station, open Station Home, then go to Station Settings and open Payment Terminals.

  3. Next to Bluetooth Terminals, hit Discover. The Station searches for nearby Bluetooth terminals.

  4. When the WisePad 3 appears, click it to connect. Once connected, it's registered to that Station and ready to take payments.

Native Stations only: Bluetooth terminal payments are available on Native Stations, not Virtual Stations. If you're on a Virtual Station, switch to a Native Station to use a Bluetooth terminal.

Taking a payment

Once connected, the terminal follows the checkout flow on its Station:

  1. Ring up the sale on the Station, then at checkout tap your flow's card (Final Pay) payment button.

  2. The amount is sent to the WisePad 3. The customer taps, inserts and enters their PIN if prompted, or otherwise pays.

  3. If tips are enabled, the customer is prompted to choose a tip before paying. (Set this up in Payment Setup → Tips.)

  4. If signatures are enabled, the signature is captured and stored with the order.

  5. When approved, the payment is recorded in the Payments area and the receipt can be printed or sent.

Customize the checkout experience: Tips and cardholder signatures are configured once in Payment Setup and apply across your supported terminals. See "Configuring Tips & Cardholder Signatures."

Care & everyday tips

  • Charge the terminal fully before each shift so it doesn't run out mid-sale.

  • Keep it within Bluetooth range of the paired Station device so payments go through without delay.

  • Keep the keypad and card slot clean, and use a protective case if the terminal travels with you.

  • Install updates when prompted so the terminal stays secure and current.

Troubleshooting

  • Terminal doesn't appear when you hit Discover — make sure it's powered on, charged, and within Bluetooth range, and that you're on a Native Station, then hit Discover again. If it still doesn't show up under Station Settings → Payment Terminals, close the Final POS app completely and reopen it, then try Discover again.

  • Bluetooth Terminals option isn't available — confirm you're on a Native Station; Bluetooth terminal payments aren't supported on Virtual Stations.

  • Terminal connects but won't take a payment — confirm it's the terminal connected to the Station running checkout, and that the Station has an internet connection.

  • Card payments are declining — try another card to rule out a card issue; check your connection; review the payment in the Payments area for the decline reason.

  • Bluetooth keeps dropping — keep the terminal close to the Station device, re-pair if they lose connection, and keep it charged.
